Summertime Fair Fun

What fun is the summer if you don't go to the fair and see all the people? Oh, I mean, attractions... We had a better-than-expected evening tonight - took the kids to see the motocross races, which they enjoyed (for about 10 minutes), ate corn dogs and french fries, followed by a funnel cake for dessert - yummy! The kids rode two rides 3 times each - the carousel and the cars that drove around. We couldn't believe it, they loved it - even Dillon was laughing and giggling with excitement. What progress he's made in the past year - last year he would have cried the entire time!

Unfortunately I didn't bring a camera or camcorder, all I had was a cell phone, so only snapped a couple shots. Still cute, though...

Beach Vacation

All of our big days have come and gone, we've been married for 7 years (June 30), Joe is 33 (July 1), Kristy is 31 (July 4), and Dillon is 3 (July 9)! We were lucky enough to be on vacation in North Carolina for three of the four events, and had a really nice time. Here are some pics...

We spent a lot of time on the beach, although the boys were deathly afraid of the waves. Can't really blame them, though, they were big enough for people to surf on, so it was pretty overwhelming for the little ones!

Dillon fed the seagulls some french fries - I wish I could have captured his initial reaction on film. It was pure amazement and awe - so precious!

Other afternoons, we spent at the pool lounging around...
The boys never had any trouble taking a nap in the afternoon - the sun pretty much kicked their little butts every day!

One evening, we went to tour the USS North Carolina. The battleship had been used from 1941-1946 in WWII in Japan. It was totally amazing to tour, though not the friendliest place for energetic toddlers!
You wouldn't have been smiling 65 years ago if this bullet was this close to you...
One afternoon the four of us went to the Fort Fisher Aquarium, to see some fishies...

The boys got to come face-to-face with a big alligator!
It was great to get away from the same-old same-old routine for a week. Although, it was nice to get home, too...
