Hitting the Ice

With all of the snow/ice/ nastiness we've been dealing with recently, our whole family has been going stir-crazy and needed to get out of the house! Unfortunately, our morning plans had to be canceled due to the weather, but we were determined to not be snowed in all day. We headed out to the Chiller ice rink to try our hands at ice skating. At first, the kids couldn't even stand on their skates (by comparison, I couldn't stand on mine at the end). But after an hour or so, they were getting the hang of it and actually (gasp- dare I say?) having fun! Daddy did a wonderful job with them, the kids didn't want to skate with me, they said they liked Daddy better. He was much better than me, even showing me some of his Apollo Ohno moves - I was impressed! I have a nasty painful blister from the things they call ice skates, but it was worth it. Good times...

Wintertime Activities!!!

After a few days of the kids going out and playing in the snow (we got over 15 inches in just a few days!), you would think I would have taken a few pictures. Nope. I prefer the warmth of the house to the cold weather outside, so I didn't go out. Finally, I figured it was my duty as a mother and family memories preservation specialist to go snap a few action shots. The kids aren't too good at entertaining themselves on their own yet, they still need someone to keep them on track, and to keep them from throwing snow at the dog and such. So Joe was out there with them, helping them to shovel, dig tunnels, and sled down the piles of snow. Then he went out to the playset with Dillon and played for a while longer - good thing Joe likes to play in snow!!!
Notice Owen is nowhere to be seen - turns out he's a momma's boy, and isn't real fond of the cold, either. He came in after about 20 minutes and was ready for his hot cocoa...

Party Time!!

Owen's birthday fell on a Thursday, so we scheduled the party for Saturday. Little did we know we were going to have 15 inches of snow fall on Friday and Saturday morning! Luckily, the family (minus my mom, who had to work at the last minute) was still all able to make it here to celebrate. We all had a very nice time, and Owen just LOVED his spidey cake - gotta love the Ribbon Box!!! Happy birthday, buddy, we love you so much!!!Blue icing is so much fun.... So much fun to clean out of clothes...

Speaking of clothes - I think he's outgrown his 2T pants...
Thank you, everyone, for all of the wonderful presents!

He made it clear at one point that although he was 3, he will always be our baby... (he NEVER sucks his thumb!)

Happy Birthday, Owey!!!

February 4, we celebrated Owen's 3rd birthday!!! We started the day with a doctor's visit - his 3 year well check. He was excited to tell everyone he was three (and was having a spidey birthday)!!! He weighed in at 32 lbs (same as Dillon now) and everything else checked out great. He decided that he wanted to go to Boston's for dinner (we suggested it and he approved - his first choice was Waffle House), so the boys put on their party hats and off we went. We had a great meal, and it just so happens that Thursday night, kids eat free, so that was a nice surprise for us, too!!
Our baby is a big boy now! :-( So happy and so sad at the same time...
