Halloween 2010

It wouldn't be an October blog post without mentioning Halloween! This year, Owen was gung-ho about being a soldier. He loves anything camouflage, and the soldier seemed a perfect fit. We were able to find him a darling uniform at a military store in Columbus, and I ordered patches, complete with his name, from the internet. He couldn't have been more thrilled with it!When Dillon said he wanted to be a vampire, I was thinking in my head, "$15 from WalMart - DONE!". It was easy, cute, and everyone was happy!
They had a great time running around the neighborhood collecting candy and as any typical child, couldn't wait to eat it all! Dillon didn't eat his dinner that night, so my deal with him was that he only got to pick ONE piece of candy. Owen was able to pick three because he did finish his dinner. Dillon seemed fine with that and pushed his dinner away from him. Fast forward to the end of trick-or-treat... We were all sitting around a fire at the Bautsch's, and the kids were selectively choosing what to gobble down. Dillon picks out a FULL SIZE Hershey Dark bar (some people in this neighborhood work for Nestle's and give out full-size candy bars) and says, "You said I could have one! This is the one I want!" Who could argue with that? Next year I'll be sure to be more specific...

Autumn Adventures

October also meant wrapping up fall soccer for Owen. He seemed to enjoy playing this year, and was a bit more enthusiastic about it than he was last Spring. We may try again Spring 2011, we'll see... Joe enjoys coaching with his friend, Jon, and they do a wonderful job with the kids!

Pumpkin Patch

October is a month typically full of fun and adventure.. Whenever I'm creating a photo book, October is usually one of the months with the most photos! This month was complete with a trip to the pumpkin patch for both Dillon and Owen, each with their own school classes. They were able to venture out into the field and choose a pumpkin to take home. They also enjoyed looking at the animals on the farm and playing with the activities available.

Bowling!!

Our good friends, the Egberts, came to visit for the weekend. The kids had a blast (as usual), and we all ventured out for an evening at the bowling lanes. This was the first time bowling for the Egbert kids, so they had an exciting evening for sure!
