Weekend at Poppy's

Dillon got to spend a couple days at Grammy and Poppy's house, and had a blast. Poppy let him sit up on his workbench and play - he had a ball putting washers on a "fritter" (D's pronunciation of "screwdriver", don't ask me how), and playing with the measuring tapes!

Owen's First Tooth!!!

Owen's first tooth broke through today - and the second one is not far behind! They are the bottom center teeth. I guess that would explain the endless fussing and crankiness!!! I won't gross you all out with pictures, like I did with Dillon - it looks the same! My little baby is growing up!

Joe's Hair Cut

He finally did it! Joe's hair finally grew to 10 inches (the minimum requirement for Locks of Love), so went to the salon to give his donation for Locks of Love. Here he is before:
And here he is holding his donation - he was able to give 4 ponytails, each one about as much as typical girls donate - his hair was so thick!

Way to go, Joe - some little kid will be lucky to have your beautiful hair!

D and the Big Digger

A couple weekends ago, we went out to see Joe's brother at a job site, so Dillon could see the big digger in person, and even get to sit in it!
However, once he saw it working up close, he got scared and didn't want anything to do with it - it was too loud! (That's why the picture was taken outside of the machine!)

Owen didn't know any better, though, so we put him up inside it for a photo op-

Then he started getting scared:

Overall, I think Andy enjoyed the visit more than the boys - Dillon kept saying, "Dillon van, Dillon van!" meaning he wanted to go back to the van and get out of this situation!!!

Owen's 6-mo Dr. appt

I was hoping to reach the 20-lb mark, but he didn't quite make it. Today he weighed in at 19lbs, 13 oz (90%) and is 27" (90%) and his head is 17 in. (50%). I just think it's funny b/c Dillon weighed 19lbs, 2oz at 1 year!!! It won't be much longer before Owen is heavier - maybe by the time he's 1 year old...

This past week he started sitting up on his own, which keeps him happier longer than laying on his back does! Still no rolling over, though - oh well - all in good time. Here he is in front of a toy that he and Dillon both would stick their finger in the roller part and then cry when it makes a loud noise (this is before he did that, obviously!) Here is Dillon at the same age:
Dillon is doing great, too - learning more and more words every day and is starting to piece together sentences. It is so fun to watch him learn! He's a dickens, though, and he'll tell you so! "Dillon dickens - Dillon ornery!"

Zoo Fun!!!

This weekend my parents and sister took Dillon to the zoo for the day, and he had a great time. They went to the petting zoo first, which then made him think that he could touch EVERY animal! Later that night, we could hear him on the monitor saying, "sheep - pet it, yeah! Tiger - touch it - Nooooo!"

BEFORE the big adventure:

In case you aren't familiar with Dillon's sheep sound - he's saying, "BAAAAAAA!"

Somebody was worn out!!!
Later that night, Grandma gave the boys a bath and got them ready for bed. It was so nice to be able to go out for the night just the two of us!

Happy Baby (never thought I'd say that!)

Owen is finally a happy baby! I realized I hadn't taken many pictures of him lately, so I took a few of him yesterday on the changing table - just too cute now! I love the 6-12 month stage, so much fun! I can't believe we've made it through 6 months...

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back...

Dillon's potty training was coming along quite well, I thought. Then, he started being "all done" with his potty. Although sometimes before I slapped a diaper on him, he'd fight it and say "potty - Dillon potty, yeah". So we'd go sit on the potty again. All this, just to not wear a diaper! To make a long story short, sometimes he uses it, sometimes not. I'm just taking it as it comes, and am not going to stress out over it - I have too many other things to worry about!

On the bright side, Owen is finally sleeping better - through the night without any 3AM or 5AM wakings anymore, and two really good naps during the day. As long as he has his "blankie", he's a happy camper!

Potty Training: Day 1

Apparently, July 1 wasn't a one-time occurance of Dillon removing his diaper in bed. Pretty much EVERY night since then, and the past two afternoon naps have been that way. Unfortunately for me, that means I'm washing sheets every day! I guess that is his way of saying he's ready to get out of the diaper. I asked him this morning if he wanted to go on the potty, and he said, "Yeah, okay!" (his newest cute phrase) Therefore, today marked Day 1 of our potty training experience. I was not looking forward to this, or expecting it so soon, but I guess I should take advantage of it while I can.

I've heard of some people doing this, but it was Dillon's idea, not mine - he doesn't want to wear a diaper at ALL, and doesn't care for shorts, either. So today he spent most of the day naked. Luckily it was beautiful outside, so we could be out there (good for accidents!) a lot.
It's a good thing we don't have neighbors too close!!!

Grandma came over and helped this morning, and made sure he drank lots of water, to keep practicing!

2 Years Old Today!!!

2 years ago, at 1:32AM, Joe and I were just beginning a whole new chapter of our lives. Now we've been through a few chapters, and they seem to be flying by! We had a really nice birthday party for Dillon this past Saturday, with two great-grandparents, both sets of grandparents, and Dillon's aunt and uncle all over to celebrate. He had a great time, and loves showing off for everyone! Owen was very well-behaved, too, and if he could talk, I'm sure he'd say he had fun.

Appropriately enough, we had a "Cars" theme:

Dillon was very spoiled with gifts - here is a pool from Joe and I:
A "waggie" from Grandma & Grandpa R.:

A battery-operated Earnhardt Jr. car from Uncle Andy and Grammy & Poppy:

A set of toddler-sized golf clubs:

A Hummer Truck:
Matchbox cars from Great Grandma & Grandpa:
Art supplies and easel from Aunt Laura:

Thanks to everyone for coming and making it such a success!!!
